From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure knows the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Audiences can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
