The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the binding agreement affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how fast season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some really amazing reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the previously silent cast members."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about season 2 — especially in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've already completed a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
